FCE, Post-Offer Testing and Ergonomics in the New Year

It will come as no surprise that the year 2010 has changed occupational rehabilitation, functional capacity evaluation, post-offer testing and employment testing forever. Through my daily talks with clinicians and employers from across the land, I am struck with how far behind many are in terms of appreciating the changes that occurred this year. Many are stuck in the old ways of thinking about testing current or returning employees; this old way of thinking needs to be quickly updated to address the new current reality as seen in the federal courts.
As I look to the New Year from this first week of 2011, I think about the possibilities, the responsibilities and what lies ahead. My personal theme for 2011 will be to focus on creating and adding value to your daily life. My blog postings, free webinars and published articles will focus on supporting you as you add and create value for your customers.
My idea for adding value to your career is to blog at a reasonable frequency about the things I assist colleagues with on a regular basis: how to approach a difficult post-offer test, how to document test results for a low-effort client and how to build a program in response to a request from a major regional employer. I will also keep up an on-going conversation about activity in the federal courts and the EEOC. On numerous occasions over this past year I have heard comments about how hard it is to learn how to sift through the noise to find relevant issues and those worth spending time to read and understand. I'll attempt to do that for you in various ways throughout 2011 and onward.
Happy New Year!
