Happy Almost-Belated Occupational Therapy Month!

The month is almost over, but that doesn't mean that this post is any less genuine!

Occupational Therapist Helping Patient Relearn ADLsWe want to wish a very Happy National Occupational Therapy (OT) Month to all of our OT customers. {Don't worry PT's, your post is coming in October!}

April is the time of year when everyone in the OT profession makes a point to bring public awareness to the impact that occupational therapy has on lives. Occupational Therapy is not only about helping people get back to work, as its name might suggest; OTs provide therapy and training that improves the quality of their patient's Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and they give people their lives back. It returns the independence back to their lives by improving their health, wellness, productivity, participation and overall quality of life in society.

Occupational Therapists do not just deals with injuries or illnesses. They deal with the "larger life issues and how it affects the individual", to quote the man in the clip below. They focus on prevention and wellness and strive to increase an "I can do" attitude with their patients.

The work is hard, but I'm sure it's highly rewarding. So, a big "thank you" to all the Occupational Therapists out there!
